The Kenya Trade Network Agency (KENTRADE) is a State Corporation under the National Treasury whose mandate is to implement, operationalize and manage the Kenya National Electronic Single Window System (KNESWS) as well as Trade Facilitation.
KENTRADE was established under an Executive Order and gazetted as Legal Notice No 6 of 2011 on 28th January 2011.

Reports to: Call Center Officer

Job Purpose: This job function predominantly entails answering queries, handling complaints and providing information to customers for effective and efficient operations in order to support the fulfillment of KENTRADE’s mission.
Based at KENTRADE’s Call Center, the Call Center Assistant responds to customer needs in a professional, service-oriented manner and maintains the highest level of customer satisfaction by ensuring first contact resolution (FCR).
Duties & Responsibilities
Act as a single point of contact for phone calls and emails from users. The call center agent shall listen, log and respond to customer enquiries via email and phone
Recognizing, documenting, and informing the supervisor regarding the trends in external customer calls.
Anticipating potential needs or problems of customers.
Following through on commitments made to customers
Making recommendations of alternate solutions if customer expectations cannot be met and following relevant escalation contact protocols
Maintaining confidentiality of information
Achieving first contact resolution (FCR)
Handling complaints or issues satisfactorily
Recording details of comments, inquiries, complaints, and actions taken.
Prioritize received issues in order to identify and escalate situations requiring urgent attention first.
Providing accurate information about organizations services
Undertake such other duties as may be reasonably required and which are consistent with the level of responsibility of this job role.
Working Conditions
1. Hours of work will vary and shift work will be required.
2. Assistants may be required to sit for long periods of time.
Qualifications and Experience
Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Information Communication Technology or related field form a reputable institution.
Computer Literacy (MS Office) is essential
Experience in Call Centre operations desirable.
Excellent communication skills both oral and written
Ability to multi task with high stress tolerance level.

PELUM-Kenya is a network of 42 Civil Society Organizations reaching smallholder farmers in Kenya; in adoption of Ecological Land Use Management (elum) practices which promotes use of eco-friendly technologies to enhance food production and incomes using locally available materials. 

PELUM-Kenya is mandated by its 42 members to promote Ecological Land Use Management (elum) practices and principles in Kenya through networking, capacity building, information sharing and advocacy. 

Participatory Ecological Land Use Management as a network has heightened a need for evidence based advocacy to inform the community at large about the natural environment and to achieve the need for a meaningful participation.
 
The African Biodiversity Network (ABN) is a regional network of individuals and organizations seeking African solutions to the ecological and socio-economic challenges that face the continent. 

The ABN was conceived in response to growing concern in the region over threats to Biodiversity in Africa and the need to develop strong African positions and legal instruments at the national, regional and international level. 

Currently The ABN has 36 partners drawn from twelve African countries: Benin, Botswana, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Mozambique, South Africa, Tanzania, Togo, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

Bread for the World (BfW) provided a grant to African Biodiversity Network (ABN) and PELUM-Kenya for the project “Biosafety and Seed laws capacity building in Kenya” in order to scale up knowledge on Bio-safety in Kenya for informed choice by consumers and producers”.
 
PELUM –Kenya seeks to recruit an exceptional results oriented individual to fill the position of Advocacy Intern. 

This position will report to the Campaigns Advocacy and Lobbying officer in PELUM Kenya and will be responsible for the following:

Key Responsibilities
  • Supporting the day-to-day operations and activities of project.
  • Supporting the activities of Kenya Biodiversity coalition and effectiveness of the activities implemented by the member organizations of the coalition.
  • Supporting PELUM Kenya in identifying information needs and interests, collection of information, dissemination and facilitating seamless exchange of information among the stakeholders.
  • Screening, responding, handling and rerouting correspondences as guided in PELUM Kenya
  • Supporting the building of a strong networking culture and effective working relationships and ensuring that the member organizations contribute effectively to the local and global debates
  • Supporting arrangements for meetings, workshops, conferences and other events
  • Developing reports as required from time to time with the guidance of the CAL Officer in PELUM Kenya.
Key Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience
  • Minimum of undergraduate degree or equivalent in Journalism, Agriculture, Environment, Sociology, Political Science or a closely related discipline.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience related working.
  • Experience in food rights and food sovereignty issues
  • Computer proficiency in: Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Internet search skills and ability to learn new applications quickly
  • Proven ability to work independently.
  • Be a good communicator with excellent research and writing skills in press releases, newspaper articles, blogs
Remuneration for the position is Kshs. 30,000 per month (gross)

Primary Responsibilities:


Technical Engineering:
  • Create and maintain electrical schematics and perform circuit analysis.
  • Identify and specify new electrical parts and work with sourcing team to evaluate suppliers.
  • Create and maintain a hardware verification plan and performance document.
  • Develop and maintain Electrical Design Failure Mode Effects Analysis (DFMEA).
  • Define hardware test software, if needed.
  • Supply electrical information to ECAD for system layout.
  • Ensure electrical design is compatible with mechanical design and manufacturing processes.
  • Support interior and exterior electrical design layout and review.
  • Provide technical support for product builds.
  • Complete electrical hardware verification as per the verification plan.
  • Build, provide and archive electrical test harnesses, simulators, exercisers and loads for validation.
  • Maintain feasibility of engineering approach for low volume production tooling and limited in-country resources.
  • Review and revise engineering and/or production processes in response to feedback from colleagues, safety concerns, quality issues, loading requirements etc.
  • Advice and assist team of local Kenyan mechanics and welders on the prototype vehicle build and general workplace best practices (e.g. equipment safety standards).
  • Ensure high quality standards throughout the vehicle build; develop test procedures and conduct tests using software packages and physical testing methods.
  • Utilize in-country equipment and materials and adapt approach to the low-tech resources available.
  • Identify, create solutions, and resolve technical design conflicts collaboratively with Design
  • Engineer, Quality Engineer and Cost Engineer.
Project Management:
  • Lead and facilitate engineering review sessions; revise approach with stakeholder feedback.
  • Take ownership of projects; plan milestones, timelines, budgets, resources and identify potential risks to deliver engineering aspects within agreed completion dates.
  • Be proactive regarding task completion and periodically advise wider team on project status, timing, resources, issues, and ability to deliver on-time with excellence.
  • Ensure adherence and compliance to general automotive industry engineering standards and best practices; maintain structured and versioned data outputs daily and backup data weekly.
  • Work as an active member of the team, ensure effective communication between colleagues and positively contribute regularly to meetings and briefings.
Skills and Certification:
  • An ideal candidate should combine outstanding technical skills in electrical engineering with excellent interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with a multidisciplinary team.
